Ben Davies to start against Arsenal, Postecoglou gives Spurs starting XI admission
With Destiny Udogie out for the remainder of the season, Tottenham will have to reorganize the back-line, where the Italian defender has often started when fit (Transfermarkt).
Now, as new information comes in from Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, it seems that Ben Davies will play in his stead as Tottenham face Arsenal in this Sunday's North London derby (Football.London).
According to the manager, "Ben [Davies] will start."
It's a swap that most fans likely predicted, though other options were available for the Australian gaffer to consider.
Center-back signing Radu Dragusin has hardly seen minutes since joining the club in January, and with Micky van de Ven's recovery pace and left-footedness, he could have slid out to the left flank with Dragusin covering in the middle (Transfermarkt).
Nevertheless, it seems that Ange has made his decision, adding to his admission that the repeated injuries have unquestionably made it more difficult to develop the squad as quickly as he had hoped.
"It just feels like a real disrupted season. I know that’s how I feel internally where it’s the hardest part for me to assess because there’s no real chunk of work, apart from the first ten games and that’s not enough of a sample to get a great measure of individual or collective performances," the manager explained.
"It feels like I’m taking little samples from everywhere," he added.
The squad will surely need Davies' best for this weekend and, if Ange is to stick with him, the rest of the season as well.
