After signing Dominic Solanke in the 2024 summer transfer window, Ange Postecoglou is already eyeing an alternative for Tottenham Hotspur.

At this stage, it is unfair to judge Dominic Solanke. He might be struggling to find the back of the net but context is also important; Solanke is at a new club and he was injured at the start of the season.

Without a doubt, there are goals to be scored for Dominic Solanke. The England international showed an impressive instinct to find the back of the net with Bournemouth last season, so his time will come.

However, Ange Postecoglou is not overly impressed with his current attacking options. So, reports suggest Ange is targeting a Dominic Solanke alternative for Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Tottenham have shown the strongest interest in signing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Sweden international is also wanted by PSG and Chelsea.

Gyokeres recently scored his first UEFA Champions League goal. Over the past few seasons, he has proven himself to be an incredible goal-scorer. Now, he is proving himself on a massive stage.

Without a doubt, Tottenham will have aspirations to qualify for the UEFA Champions League again. After Mauricio Pochettino led Spurs to the Champions League final, Ange Postecoglou would like to do the same as part of his long-term vision.

However, the competition for places is beginning to heat up. Currently, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle are showing desire to finish in the top four. This is without mentioning Aston Villa, Chelsea and Man City, who will all be eager to finish in the top four too.

So, Tottenham must buck their ideas up and start scoring goals to win matches in the Premier League. As things stand, Spurs have won just one league game so far this season.

When it comes to the battle for Viktor Gyokeres, the status of Champions League qualification could be an important factor. After all, he's had a taste of Champions League football, so it's unlikely he'll want to step down now.

This must not be misconstrued as Tottenham giving up on the Solanke project. After all, he was signed with the long-term in mind and ageing just 27 years old, is only just entering the prime stages of his career. So, Spurs will give him time, and so should fans.
