Tottenham Hotspur is wrapping up their pre-season tour in South Korea with a big game against Bayern Munich this weekend.

After the match, they’ll head back to London, where they'll face Bayern once more at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Meanwhile, everyone’s watching to see how the club tackles their search for a new striker, which manager Ange Postecoglou has pointed out as a key priority.

Spurs' manager Ange Postecoglou has been candid about the team’s need for a specific type of forward. With Harry Kane’s departure last summer, Tottenham has yet to fill the void left by their star striker. Postecoglou’s comments provide valuable insight into the kind of player he is looking for to complete his squad.

During an interview with football.london, Postecoglou stressed that the new striker must fit the team’s tactical requirements.

“At Celtic, I had Kyogo, who was a sort of out-and-out number nine,” Postecoglou said. “In Japan, I’ve always had a striker. It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it’s fair to say. You know, but if Harry would have stayed I definitely would have used him.”

Postecoglou emphasized that the ideal striker for Tottenham needs to meet specific physical and technical criteria. He explained that the type of striker they need is one who aligns with the team’s style of play, which demands certain attributes both physically and technically.

This detailed assessment highlights the importance of finding a forward who not only fits the tactical system but also can seamlessly integrate into the squad.

Tottenham’s need for a new striker is even more pressing given their current pre-season results. While they’ve stayed unbeaten so far, the upcoming game against Bayern Munich will really test their level.

Postecoglou’s emphasis on finding the right striker is part of a bigger plan to boost the team and build on their pre-season progress. With the transfer window still open, bringing in a player who fits this specific profile will be crucial for Tottenham’s success next season.
