Tottenham Hotspur's Spanish duo Bryan Gil and Sergio Reguilon have not traveled with the club on their Japan and South Korea tours.

Fabrizio Romano has said on his Twitter page that the two players were granted permission bu the club not to travel on tour in order to explore potential transfer opportunities.

Reguilon joined the club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 with a lot of hype around the signing. He was very impressive in his first few months at the club, but lost his way midway through his first season, and never really found his way back.

The Spanish left-back has spent the last two seasons away from the club, initially spending the 22-23 season at Atletico Madrid in an unfruitful loan, before 6 months on loan at Manchester United and Brentford respectively last time out.

Paul O Keefe is reporting that Girona are in talks to sign Gil at the moment.

Gil was signed in the summer of 2021 from Sevilla for a fee of just over £20m and Erik Lamela in return. Fast forward to the best part of two years, Gil is assisting Lamela against Juventus to put Sevilla into the Europa League final. Extremely Spursy.

Gil played 9 Premier League games in his first 6 months, starting 0 of them, and heading out on loan to Valencia in January of 2022. Similar story the next season, as Gil spent the first 6 months of the season at Spurs, playing 4 league games, with 2 starts, before heading out on loan to La Liga again with Sevilla.

He actually spent the entirety of last season actually at the club, and yet he still only mustered 11 games, with 2 starts. Gil has been a victim of a turbulent few years at Spurs, with lots of chopping and changing managers and playing styles. A move back to La Liga is best for everyone, and the same can probably be said for Reguilon too.
