WhoScored rating is certainly not the end all, be all for evaluting footballers, but with Tottenham Hotspur and Spanish national team right back Pedro Porro ranking fourth among all players at the 2026 World Cup in WhoScored rating, that tells you a lot about how excellent he has been on that flank since formally taking over for Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente.

Only Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi - the three Golden Boot and arguably MVP frontrunners - are rated higher than Porro, who delivered another masterful performance on the right flank for Spain in their gutsy 1-0 win over Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese national team.

Spain have yet to give up a goal at the World Cup, and Porro has been a huge part of that effort. Whether it was Joao Felix or the dangerous Rafael Leao, who could even be his future teammate depending on how things shake out in the transfer market this summer, Porro shut up shop for La Roja in the World Cup Round of 16.

Pedro Porro is dominating

Pedro Porro finished the match with four tackles, an interception, three clearances, a blocked shot, and just one foul in a real ball winner's performance on the right flank. On offense, Porro drew two fouls and completed around 90 percent of his passes in a clean game. He did not get to do much going forward because he was on full stress defensively with Luis de la Fuente instructing Lamine Yamal specifically to stay high up the pitch and almost cherry pick for counterattacks, leaving Porro with everything to do.

But Porro, after facing harsh criticisms for a terrible middle of the season under Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur, was more than game to this. When Spurs signed him from Sporting CP, the scouting report was that he could develop into one of the best right backs in the world and a real all arounder, capable of going forward while providing absolute shut down defense on the other side of the ball.

Well, Porro is beginning to show the upside from the scouting report here in 2026. He was playing out of his skin when Roberto De Zerbi showed up to save Tottenham and inspire players like Porro in the worst of the Premier League relegation fight, and now that he has taken over the starting job for Spain, Porro has really come into his own as a world class player at this World Cup.
