Paul Pogba has made a disrespectful and mocking remark about Tottenham Hotspur that is unlikely to sit well with Spurs fans.

Paul Pogba, who has been off the pitch since last September due to a doping ban, recently took a cheeky swipe at Tottenham Hotspur and their fans during an appearance on IShowSpeed’s popular Twitch channel.

With his 18-month suspension keeping him out until March next year, the French midfielder seemingly has time on his hands, and it seems he couldn't resist poking fun at Spurs while interacting with fans.

Paul Pogba makes disrespectful claim about Tottenham Hotspur

The exchange began when a Tottenham supporter joined the live stream, boldly claiming that Spurs are a better team than Pogba’s former side, Manchester United.

Pogba quickly defended his old club with a remark that hit a sore spot for many Tottenham fans. He replied, “When Spurs win a trophy, then you can come back!”, a clear jab at Spurs' trophy drought.

The club’s last major trophy came in 2008 with a League Cup win, and despite several promising campaigns since, they've been unable to break that 16-year dry spell.

As Pogba’s comment reminded everyone, the lack of silverware has often been a point of ridicule, with Tottenham’s rivals frequently bringing it up whenever possible.

While Tottenham fans may have become somewhat immune to these jibes, the timing of Pogba’s comment has stirred some irritation, especially since the club is enjoying a good season under Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian coach has brought a fresh approach and optimism to the squad, leading many fans to believe this could finally be the year they end their long wait for a trophy. Spurs have been in good form, and players like Dejan Kulusevski or Brennan Johnson have been pivotal in pushing the team forward.

Pogba, on the other hand, faces an uncertain future as he serves out his ban, which was initially set at four years but later reduced to 18 months after he claimed that he had unknowingly consumed the banned substance.

How long has it been since Paul Pogba last played an official match?

Paul Pogba has not played an official match since August 2023. The reason for his absence stems from a doping test conducted after a Serie A match against Udinese, in which Pogba tested positive for elevated testosterone levels.

As a result, the Anti-Doping Prosecutor's Office imposed a four-year ban from football, casting doubt over the 30-year-old midfielder's career prospects and raising concerns about a potentially premature end to his time on the pitch.

Despite this, Pogba has been linked with a move to MLS, with clubs reportedly interested, including Inter Miami, where stars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets currently play. We wish him the best of luck in the American League, should he eventually find his way there.
