Tottenham Hotspur's biggest needs in the summer 2026 transfer window will be in the attack, as Spurs remain without a credible threat at striker and are still putting too much on the plate of young Mathys Tel to be the starting left winger immediately after Son Heung-min with no real depth behind him, especially after fellow French young gun Wilson Odobert's recent ACL tear.

Spurs leading goal scorer last season was the wildly inconsistent Richarlison, yet he was a fair bit better than either Dominic Solanke or all time terrible loan signing Randal Kolo Muani. Despite Spurs big issues in the attack, the midfield will also be nearly as big of an area of need for them, and they have been linked to some interesting names around the Premier League.

One of those standouts is young Liverpool No. 8 Curtis Jones, whom Spurs were linked to in the winter transfer window. They ultimatley decided to go for Conor Gallagher, though, and while Gallagher improved under Roberto De Zerbi, that decision was a mistake.

Tottenham are falling behind Inter Milan

Jones is closer to leaving Liverpool now, and Tottenham Hotspur would do well to bring him in alongside Andrew Robertson, whose move from Anfield as a free agent has already been confirmed by top transfer insiders.

It appears that Tottenham are well behind in the early going for Jones, though. According to the latest information from Fabrizio Romano, Serie A champions Inter Milan are still "working" hard on a deal for the England international, and Curtis Jones himself is said to be "open to joining" the Nerazzurri.

Per Fab, Inter and Liverpool are in contact and hammering out a deal, which is said to be "on" despite an agreement not being close, as the Italian giants are not giving the Reds enough money with their 20 million euro offer. But Inter have been targeting Jones as one of their priorities for months, as Romano says he is the "top" of their midfield wish list.

Inter's big interest in Jones and determind pursuit of the English midfielder should serve as a reminder to Tottenham that if they want to sign the caliber of players who will go to clubs competing in the Champions League knockout stages, then they need to get serious and get in the door early in the transfer window. Look at how they have missed out on the likes of Desire Doue and Rayan Cherki over the past two years; Jones could be the next story of that ilk.
