Tottenham Hotspur need to be aggressive this summer transfer window about upgrading their attack. Because it speaks volumes that their best attacking player last season in terms of goals was Richarlison with 11 in the Premier League and nobody else was anywhere near a goal threat. And it also says a lot that Mohammed Kudus, a new signing last summer, was their best overall attacking player and Spurs became the worst team in the league when he started to have fitness and injury issues in the second half of a season.
While Tottenham have done very well to overahul their defense and especially their midfield with Roberto De Zerbi pushing for big money midfield signings Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, they are going to need to spend even bigger than the combined 185 million pounds on Fernandes and Tonali to upgrade their attack.
Spurs have to sign multiple top players for their attack on the left wing and at striker, but they are running slow with other clubs showing interest in top targets. They need to land both veterans and stars of the future they can sign for slightly cheaper but that have the potential to become worth triple as among the best in the wrold.
Tottenham have a move to ponder
Tottenham Hotspur were previously linked to FC Koln sensation Said El Mala, who is so incredible at creating chances for himself and scoring that he is widely seen as the best attacking prospect in Germany with all the Bundesliga's top clubs interested in him.
But while Spurs have seemingly stopped following El Mala, Borussia Dortmund are making their plunge. According to a report from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, the young El Mala is "open to a move" to BVB this summer, and Dortmund are about to submit their first official transfer offer to fan friendship club Koln for 26 million euros with eight million euros in "easy" add ons and eight million euros in more difficult ones.
It is a pretty low offer for Said El Mala, one of the best young forwards in the world, as Koln are asking for 50 million euros. But it is early in negotiations. And the fact that Dortmund are setting the bidding so low to begin with should put Tottenham on notice that they should be going after El Mala, too, because he could be a real bargain.
Now, Spurs do already have promising young wingers in Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, and Mikey Moore with interest in Savinho. But El Mala has great physicality, goal scoring, and the ability to be a striker, too. Sky Sports's news puts Spurs on notice that El Mala is available and worth going for.
