Tottenham Hotspur did not sign a single winger in the winter transfer window, and their only established addition to the team was center midfielder Conor Gallagher, which was one of the key reasons why Spurs nearly got relegated until Roberto De Zerbi came in to save the day.
With injuries mounting, Tottenham need to sign another winger this summer transfer window. Although the left wing is a bigger priority, Spurs had keen interest in young Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche in the last summer and winter transfer windows before failing to pull the trigger on the Frenchman, and many Tottenham fans would like to see the club go back in for him.
However, other big clubs around European football are awake to the promise of Akliouche after another good season in Ligue 1, and that apparently includes the biggest club in the country in PSG, fresh off a second straight Champions League title victory.
Tottenham may have missed the boat
According to a report from Loic Tanzi and Hugo Delom of L'Equipe in France, PSG are in talks to not only sign Yan Diomande, a former pipe dream transfer target of Tottenham's, but they are also involved in talks to take Maghnes Akliouche away from one of their biggest Ligue 1 competitors in Monaco.
Tottenham played up to PSG twice in the 2025/26 season but did not win in the end, and the same would be the case in the transfer market if the Champions League winners are indeed serious about signing the left footed right winger this summer.
But on the one hand, PSG wanting Akliouche will leave the Tottenham Hotspur faithful who wanted him in North London with a sense of vindication that he is a great player. Just 24 years of age, Akliouche had 12 goal contributions, 1.4 key passes per game, 1.2 fouls drawn per match, and plenty of hard work on the defensive end for the Monegasque side last season.
Underrated, Akliouche is clearly someone with a profile that suits Luis Enrique, and PSG are not underrating him at all. Tottenham would be wise to continue to show interest in Akliouche, as Dejan Kulusevski's days on the right wing are unclear after his devastating knee injury, which would leave Mohammed Kudus as the only healthy left footed forward in the side next season. PSG's interest in Akliouche is a tough development, but Spurs still have a chance if they can sell him on enough playing time behind Kudus.
