The transfer rumors linking Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson to Tottenham Hotspur have been revived, and while Spurs supporters have learned not to take these kinds of rumblings at face value, a second spin at the same story is bound to lead to smoke. And Spurs fans are having an interesting time debating the merits of landing Jackson after his loan season from Chelsea to Bayern Munich during the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.
Jackson, in truth, did not do much at Bayern behind Harry Kane, and he really hasn't done much since that brilliant half season in La Liga with Villarreal before making the move to Chelsea. But while Jackson failed to establish himself as the No. 1 for Chelsea, the interest Tottenham purportedly have in the Senegalese international is actually quite interesting.
Spurs don't really have a leading candidate at striker. The only player concretely linked is actually a left winger who could be converted into something of a false nine, and that player would be none other than Liverpool's Cody Gakpo.
Nicolas Jackson isn't such a bad option
Outside of that, Tottenham Hotspur are facing a barren market, and Nicolas Jackson may be the best of any realistic option if the Victor Osimhen asking price from Turkish giants Galatasaray is indeed something insane like the 100 million euros they are hoping to get out of the Saudi Pro League this summer.
As disappointing as Nico Jackson has been for the Blues over the past few seasons and was on the chopping block for a permanent transfer last summer before he had to be loaned to Bayern Munich instead, the sad reality for Spurs is that, when any fan takes a second to think about it, he is a better striker than what Spurs have right now.
Richarlison led the team with 11 goals in the Premier League last season and is a hard working veteran who is an asset, but the Brazilian international has no long term upside and just doesn't have the quality to be the main No. 9 for a team that wants to be in the top five of the Premier League. Backup? Yes. Starter? No.
And Dominic Solanke is even worse, barely scoring or assisting since coming to Tottenham, and lat season, he could not even stay on the pitch consistently. Jackson scored 14 and 10 goals for Chelsea with 5 assists in both full seasons at Stamford Bridge, and in just 1,004 Bundesliga minutes last season, he had 8 goals while also registering 5 goal contributions in about 300 Champions League minutes. He's a better, more dangerous all around 9 who can create opportunities than what Spurs have now.
