Injury crises have compromised back-to-back domestic campaigns for the Lilywhites, and steps have been taken since Roberto De Zerbi took the reins to ensure lightning doesn't strike for a third time.
The medical staff was overhauled again in the summer, and a new cautious stance to player maintenance could frustrate the manager in the short-term, but ensure the club isn't beset by long-term absences.
At Nottingham Forest, for example, De Zerbi suggested that the medical staff dictated his substitutions, with the Italian frustrated by having to take of Sávio and Destiny Udogie on the hour mark.
"I'm sorry because Sávio and Destiny, in that moment, I think they could play something more than 60 minutes," he said post-match. "But there was a plan with the medical staff to not take risks."
Both players have dealt with fitness issues in recent weeks, and their withdrawals were seemingly pre-determined.
Despite this change in approach, Spurs' new medical staff have been unable to prevent another new signing succumbing to the treatment table. Mykhailo Mudryk has barely been in N17 for 10 days, yet he's already picked up his first notable injury.

Mudryk made his debut off the bench at the City Ground, having joined the club as a last-minute pivot to provide further depth to Spurs' attacking depth chart.
It's completely De Zerbi's signing, although it took failed pursuits of Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye for the Italian to rekindle his adoration of the Ukrainian, who's joined on an initial loan deal from Chelsea.
Many have been sceptical about what exactly Mudryk can offer, given that he's been out of the game for two years due to a doping ban. Now, it doesn't look like we'll see him in action for another two months.
After images emerged on Wednesday of the winger wearing a protective boot, Fabrizio Romano said that Mudryk is expected to be sidelined for between six and eight weeks with an ankle injury. That report followed Alasdair Gold's initial claim that the Ukrainian international will be missing until the first international break of the season.
Mudryk, who suffered the injury in training, is certain to miss upcoming Premier League bouts against Everton and Aston Villa, as well as the Carabao Cup third round clash at Liverpool, where he could've made his first start for the club.
If he's absent throughout October, too, Spurs will have to lean on Mathys Tel and Sávio down the left flank for matches against Manchester United, Coventry and Crystal Palace. Mudryk's ineligible to face parent club Chelsea on Oct. 24.
