Tottenham Hotspur have had a rough start to the 2026/27 Premier League season. After getting absolutely hammered on the road by Brentford, Spurs were on the receiving end of yet another shutout loss to a quality team in the league, falling 2-0 to Newcastle United at home.
There is optimism Spurs can turn it around, though. Not only are Spurs fans backers of Roberto De Zerbi, who already saved the club from relegation last season, but they also have two new attacking gems in Savio and Omar Marmoush.
The latter had a strong debut at striker, even in defeat, against Newcastle, while the former scored and assisted off the bench in the big 5-1 League Cup win over Charlton Athletic. And when the two are on the pitch together, which should happen next weekend against Nottingham Forest after Savio recovers from the muscular fatigue that led to him unfortunately missing the Magpies match, fireworks could ensue for this ailing Spurs side.
Mohammed Kudus is another missing piece for Tottenham
But there is a third piece to the puzzle that can't be forgotten, Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian international was the best player on Tottenham Hotspur last season in his first year after joining from rivals West Ham United, who honesty failed to make the most out of arguably the best pure dribbler in the Premier League after Jeremy Doku from Manchester City.
Kudus, though, was not able to affect games in the final third as much with no help around him. Spurs had a black hole on the left wing and three subpar options at striker. Now, they have one of the most talented center forwards in the league in Omar Marmoush, who once single handedly stole points from Bayern Munich while at Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga.
Then, on the other flank, Kudus will have Savio, who is just as explosive of a dribbler as he is. With Kudus back in the fold, Marmoush and Savio will have a player who can unbalance defenses on his own and create spaces for them as a wide playmaker, yet he can also invert and win the short area quickness battle with his fleet feet to produce goal scoring opportunities for the new Manchester City boys.
Tottenham need to be exciting again, and they have not been an exciting attacking team since they had both Harry Kane and Son Heung-min at the peak of their powers. It is a tall order for Tottenham to replicate that, but, together, Mohammed Kudus, Marmoush, and Savio stand a fighting chance. Kudus coming back to health is going to be crucial to Savio and Marmoush having the space they need to operate.
