Mikey Moore's best bet might be emulating a certain Chelsea star

Tottenham Hotspur winger MIkey Moore is one of the most high potential players in the squad, and while Spurs are high on his long term development, he showed this preseason that he isn't quite consistent enough to be a key contributor for the first team in 2026/27.

But in his final outing, he scored twice from Mathys Tel assists, showing great instincts in the box and an ability to find space and finish. Moore, at Rangers last season on loan, had some huge goals in even bigger games against Celtic, showing a cool head and an ability to get into great positions.

Although Moore is a winger, he is more of a hybrid attacking midfielder, and while he is a quick player, his size and skill set are that of a quicker, more agile player than a speed burner or an elite dribbler in one on ones, which is something Tottenham fans noticed both on loan at Rangers and especially this preseason, in direct contrast to midfielder Luca Wiliams-Barnett.

Mikey Moore can be Tottenham's Morgan Rogers in the future

What is weird is that Mikey Moore's future blueprint for success, then, may not be as a true winger but, rather, as a hybrid attacking midfielder and winger whose main focus is on using his brains and his technical quality to focus on goals and assists as a direct goal contributor, rather than necessarily taking people on or progressing play - though he can do a bit of both.

Moore's upside may be that of a player Tottenham Hotspur used to dream of signing, former Aston Villa winger and attacking midfield hybrid forward Morgan Rogers, who just signed with Tottenham rivals Chelsea for a massive transfer fee.

Comparing Moore to Rogers is presumptuous right now, but Rogers's meteoric rise and ability to impact the final score with smart movement and efficient scoring and chance creation is a great and honestly realistic ceiling for Moore to aim towards.

With FC Koln signing Said El Mala to a new contract amidst interest from Borussia Dortmund, Brighton, and even some from Bayern Munich, Moore is actually going to be more of an attacking midfield profile than a left winger.

Moore says he doesn't like playing as a right winger, but his best game of the preseason came in that position. And that's honestly all down to him having to be more deliberate and intelligent in that position in terms of coming inside and trying to score. Watching some Morgan Rogers film before the season should be a point of reference for Moore to stylize his game around his strength and weaknesses.
