Although much of the conversation around Tottenham Hotspur gems has been centered on center back Luka Vuskovic after Brighton's lowball 30 million pound bid for the Bundesliga breakout star, Mikey Moore is actually the player Spurs fans should be hyping up more for the upcoming 2026/27 Premier League season.
It's not that Moore is better than Vuskovic, but it's that Spurs are a lot weaker in the attack than at the center back position, and loaning Vuskovic for another season seems like the smarter play anyway with Marcos Senes and now Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke (a Roberto De Zerbi favorite) set to join the club this summer.
Moore is coming off a strong season with Rangers, his first as a full time starter at the senior level. After initially flashing for the 2024/25 Europa League winning Spurs, including some nifty showings in that competition, Moore got more chances as a key player in Europe for Rangers. His bravery on the ball, one on one ability, and quality in the biggest games of the season for Rangers vs. Celtic in the Old Firm Derby made him an immediate fan favorite in Scotland.
Mikey Moore has nothing holding back his Spurs future
At the beginning of the season, though, a different story was being told about Mikey Moore, who looked out of sorts and almost like a flop for Rangers. But it goes to show you how much a manager can change the fortunes of a player - as Spurs themselves would later see with De Zerbi. Rangers hired Danny Rohl, and he was the one who unlocked Moore into a key player in the team and got his confidence back, bringing much more positive football to the Scottish giants.
But all of a sudden, Rohl is gone. The promising young manager has been scooped by the Red Bull system, with RB Salzburg hiring the manager to lead a team that is entirely based on developing the young gems of the future like Mikey Moore.
Rangers already hired his replacement, basically within minutes, bringing in Manager of the Year Dennis McInnes from Scottish Premier League club Hearts. But while McInnes is a strong manager, he does not have the same style of football or track record with developing young players that Rohl does; it is a big downgrade for Rangers.
Moore has already made it clear with public comments that he is excited to head back to Tottenham and be a first team player next season, potentially competing for starts on that left wing, which is a wide open vacancy despite some promise displayed by fellow young gun Mathys Tel. And now that Danny Rohl is out to Austria, Moore has no reason to stay with Rangers and even more reason to be 100 percent committed to Spurs this summer.
