Tottenham Hotspur are one thousand percent going to need to sign at least one new winger this summer transfer window before business officially closes in less than two weeks. Spurs have found it exceedingly difficult, though, to make the upgrades they need to in the attack, as Manchester City are having a hard time letting Savinho go despite his lack of Premier League minutes last season while Roberto De Zerbi's favorite target, Cody Gakpo, may not go at all, even if Liverpool sign Bradley Barcola.

While Spurs do need a new star in the immediate term in order to climb from 17th to their ambitious goal of a return to the Champions League next season, they also had quiet concerns regarding the future of their prospects in the attack.

Mathys Tel is a very talented young left winger, but many were not sold on his ability to play consistently and to do other things besides create scoring opportunities for himself, specifically his lack of a feel for creating chances for others last season.

Tottenham can still believe in Mikey Moore and Mathys Tel

And then homegrown prosepct Mikey Moore was struggling badly for much of the preseason, in juxtaposition to Luca Wililams-Barnett's incredible work, raising red flags to Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham Hotspur supporters regarding his development.

But against Hoffenheim in the final weekend before the new season opens up this coming weekend against Brentford, Mathys Tel and Moore were spellbinding. Tel literally hit Moore up for two assists in a 3-0 romp on the Saturday match against the Bundesliga side, and in that performance, both Moore and Tel settled very important concerns around them.

Not only did Tel show that he can lead this attack and bring an end product in terms of his quality of passing, Moore sent a message that he is indeed ready for a step up in the caliber of loan he will get from Rangers to FC Koln in the Bundesliga itself.

Mikey Moore is someone Tottenham have tabbed as a future starter if all goes well, but he needs to show more consistency and courage. He did have big goals for Rangers against Celtic, it's just that Tottenham were not sure if he could step up to even bigger competition. Given Hoffenheim were near the top of the table last season, Moore scoring two against them, even in a friendly, was hugely encouraging.

Tel and Moore remain two players Tottenham can have confidence in their trajectories, and by ending the preseason on a high note with positive momentum, Spurs can feel a lot safer in the knowledge that even if they fail to sign a new winger this summer, they have two guys who can one day be great.
