Manchester United reportedly eyeing Tottenham superstar
Pedro Porro’s departure from Tottenham continues to gain momentum, with reports now suggesting that a Premier League giant is also interested in securing his services.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro is at the centre of transfer rumours as speculation mounts about his future.
The 24-year-old right-back, who joined Spurs in 2023 for a hefty £45 million from Sporting Lisbon, has been linked with moves to both Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Manchester United reportedly eyeing Tottenham superstar
While his time at the North London club has shown glimpses of quality, questions now surround whether he will remain at Tottenham for the long haul.
Rumours surrounding Porro’s next move have been growing in recent weeks.
Reports from Diario AS suggest that Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the Spanish defender, with Ruben Amorim—his former manager at Sporting Lisbon—said to be keen on reuniting with him at Old Trafford.
However, some reports have suggested that Porro himself might be ready to move on, as he feels it is time to join a bigger club.
While Tottenham are aware of Real Madrid's interest, Porro is not at the top of their priority list, with other players like Trent Alexander-Arnold reportedly ahead of him.
Despite the growing speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, Graeme Bailey, a transfer expert, has shot down the idea.
For The Spurs News, Bailey said: "No, he won’t go to Manchester United. Ruben Amorim is Head Coach at Man United, he’s not dictating the building of the squad, he won’t be demanding any players from Dan Ashworth. Head Coaches work very differently, Amorim is not in there talking about specific players."
Bailey explained that Amorim, now the head coach at Manchester United, would not be able to dictate player signings.
In fact, he added that the tactical setup at United, focused on wingers in wide roles, doesn’t align with Porro's strengths.
A high price for Tottenham to consider
Therefore, the move seems unlikely, at least under the current circumstances.
Bailey also mentioned that Porro has expressed an interest in joining Real Madrid, but it remains to be seen if the Spanish giants will make a move.
Tottenham are aware that the club likes Porro but also knows that he is not their top target for the right-back position. With competition from high-profile names, the chance of Porro joining Madrid seems less likely in the near future.
With multiple clubs expressing interest, Tottenham could be set to face a tough decision on Porro’s future.
Bailey confirmed that the club is open to selling the player, provided they receive an appropriate offer—potentially a world-record sum for a defender.
