Luis Enrique just said what no one else is saying about Thomas Frank

While Tottenham supporters continue to query whether Thomas Frank was the right man all along to replace Ange Postecoglou, Paris Saint-Germain manager Paris Saint-Germain has provided a contrarian outlook on Spurs' season so far.

Frank's side are preparing to face holders PSG in Gameweek 5 of the Champions League on Wednesday night, having somehow maintained an unbeaten record in the league phase so far. A 4-0 win over Copenhagen ranked among the most satisfying triumphs of the new manager's brief reign, and, in many ways, the upcoming duel is a free hit for the Lilywhites.

There's no expectation for the visitors to rock up at the Parc des Princes and triumph, but the fact that this fixture arrives in the backdrop of a woeful North London Derby display has complicated things for Frank. The Dane surely wants to adopt a similar plan to the one that disrupted PSG in the UEFA Super Cup back in August, but such a ploy was woefully executed on Sunday.

Should Spurs produce a limp showing in the French capital, there will be more calls for Frank's head before Fulham come to town for a suddenly significant Premier League encounter.

Wednesday's duel will be Spurs' second ever competitive meeting with PSG, having cruelly lost on penalties to the European champions back in August, which denied Frank an early piece of silverware in the form of the Super Cup.

Post-match, Enrique recognised his side's fortune: "Tottenham deserved much more. They played better than us. Football is sometimes unfair. I'm happy for that but I must say it was unfair," he said.

Now, the PSG boss has spoken rather glowingly of Frank's Spurs, despite the fact that Sunday's defeat leaves them ninth in the Premier League table and with less points than they accumulated at this stage of last season.

“Tottenham have had a great start to the season, they’re a strong side," Enrique noted in his pre-match press conference (via Last Word on Spurs on X), perhaps lulling the visitors into a false sense of security, much like what Pep Guardiola tends to do.

However, he also warned that Wednesday's bout will be "different" to the Super Cup, for which PSG came in rather unprepared due to their summer schedule being altered by the Club World Cup. "We're more ready to be a dominant team and to win the match. Our goal is the same in every match: to be dominant," the Spaniard said of the Ligue 1 leaders.

The hosts are without Désiré Doué and Achraf Hakimi, but are set to welcome Ballon d'Or winner Ousmané Dembélé back into the fold. His last appearance came against Bayern Munich earlier this month, when PSG were beaten by a side that looks like potential usurpers.
