Tottenham Hotspur need more goals next season. Richarlison was the only player remotely consisting a scoring threat to defense last season with nobody close to double digits in the Premier League, and nobody would call him an idispensible, top striker. In fact, Spurs are expected to try and move on from him again this summer.

Whether at striker or on the left wing, Spurs have real needs in the attack that need to be addressed after Roberto De Zerbi presumably secures his ambitious double swoop of top midfielders in Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

But in addition to the interest in Manchester City star winger Savinho, who was their top target at the position last summer transfer window, Spurs are apparently planning a double swoop of attacking players, too. And it appears an inverted left winger who primarily looks to get goals and assists is the main desire of De Zerbi.

Tottenham are going back for Omar Marmoush

According to a report from respected Italian transfer journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Tottenham Hotspur are not only interested in Dutch World Cup star Cody Gakpo from Liverpool (he was already linked before), but they are also going back for another Manchester City winger they wanted during the winter transfer window but who rejected them, Egypt's Omar Marmoush.

Now, Marmoush's rejection means very little, because with Roberto De Zerbi and the excitement he brings, they will have more pull. And like with Savinho, Manchester City may be more open to selling Marmoush with a new regime in charge and Pep Guardiola gone.

Alfredo Pedulla says that Tottenham want to sign at least one of Cody Gakpo or Omar Marmoush, and they are targeting both forwards from Premier League powerhouses with the intent of going for both, implying that Spurs ideally want to sign both players but will be happy with one.

Tottenham signing both Gakpo and Marmoush would put the best left winger in the squad now, Mathys Tel, in a tough spot. Although De Zerbi has assured Tel of his importance to him and the transfer rumors around the Frenchman have subsided, he could want that loan move he asked for in the winter under Thomas Frank if Spurs sign both and lock him out.

Spurs supporters will not be too upset if Tel is loaned, though a sale of the youngster would hurt their long term prospects at the position. Tel showed a lot of desire and upside, but he is not yet ready to be a key player for Tottenham. He could be the No. 2 option on the left wing, but he is definitely not consistent enough to be a No. 1. And De Zerbi knows it, hence why he is aiming for two players who would displace him. Would Tel accept being the No. 3? Now that is the question that could lead to the fire storm.
