A journalist has shared that Tottenham have, for the moment, declined to initiate negotiations with Napoli, with the Italian side interested in signing a Spurs defender.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly declined to enter negotiations with Napoli over a potential move for Radu Dragusin, despite ongoing interest from the Serie A club.

The 22-year-old defender has seen an uptick in playing time recently due to Micky van de Ven’s hamstring injury, but it seems Spurs are not yet ready to part ways with him.

Dragusin, who arrived at Spurs from Genoa, has been given opportunities to feature more regularly in recent weeks.

However, his performances have sparked mixed reactions from fans, with some questioning whether he is the right fit for manager Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.

Despite this, Dragusin has shown glimpses of his potential, and Tottenham are yet to make any move towards selling him.

In this regard, it's worth taking a look at the latest reports surrounding the young Romanian defender, particularly a recent revelation from a journalist about Tottenham's stance on the matter.

Reports have surfaced linking Dragusin with several Serie A clubs, with Juventus, Inter Milan, and Napoli all thought to be interested in his services.

In particular, Napoli has been rumoured to have set their sights on the Romanian centre-back, as they look to strengthen their defence. But according to journalist Nicolo Ceccarini, Tottenham has not shown any interest in opening talks over a transfer at this stage.

Ceccarini stated that while Napoli are considering multiple defensive targets, including Dragusin and Jakub Kiwior, Tottenham has made it clear they are not ready to entertain offers for the young defender just yet.

This suggests that, despite the growing speculation, Spurs are holding off on making any decisions regarding Dragusin’s future until they have a clearer picture of his role within the team.

Mixed feelings about Dragusin this season

For some Tottenham fans, the idea of selling Dragusin in January might not be all that controversial.

There are concerns about his ability to adapt to Postecoglou’s possession-based approach, and some believe the club could do with a more refined defender who excels in playing out from the back.

However, others feel it would be premature to judge Dragusin based solely on a handful of appearances, especially when he has not yet had a proper run of games.

Here’s a brief look at Dragusin’s 2024/25 season with Tottenham so far:
