Unfortunately, Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi is already feeling the heat from even some of the Lilywhite faithful after four straight games without a goal and a start to the Premier League season that is both winless and literally a right back where they started situation with Spurs sitting 17th in the table once more.
A lot of the moves De Zerbi has made have backfired. Omar Marmoush and Savio are still trying to prove they belong as top stars worth a combined 150 million pounds, Sandro Tonali has been good but not quite a 100 million pound player himself, and pet favorites from last year's squad like Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel have been horrid. Meanwhile, De Zerbi's feud with Richarlison has not reflected well, while loan acquisition Mykhaylo Mudryk is already injured.
But for all the things that have gone against De Zerbi in terms of his own big gambles, the 60 million euro Jan Paul van Hecke signing has worked out brilliantly. Although leaving Luka Vuskovic out of the equation benefits Van Hecke, the latter has still been excellent regardless, recovering from a nightmare debut in a 3-0 loss on the road to Brentford.

Van Hecke has been the best player on Tottenham Hotspur over the past two weeks, which were both clean shee draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton and clear steps in the right direction for Spurs as a whole.
And the Dutch international was central to Tottenham controlling the game and defending better. Micky van de Ven, his countryman, looks a lot steadier in defense with Van Hecke alongside him than he ever did with Cristian Romero as his partner, while Van Hecke on the ball is also superior to Romro - and really to every other center back in world football right now.
Roberto De Zerbi stuck his neck out for the Jan Paul van Hecke transfer and urged Tottenham to spend more than 50 million pounds on the player despite him only having one year left on his deal. Many criticized Spurs for the move, but right now, it's the one move that De Zerbi can say was worth the gamble thus far.
Surely, Omar Marmoush, Savio, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes will all prove him right in the end, but through four actual Premier League games this season, Van Hecke has been the one to stand out head and shoulders above his peers and make RDZ look good.
