The 2025/26 Premier League season may only have one game left in it for all 20 clubs, but it is far from over for Tottenham Hotspur, who have everything to play for on Sunday Matchday 38 against another historic top flight side that has recently been threatend with relegation, Richarlison's former employers Everton.

After losing 2-1 to Chelsea at the Bridge on Tuesday night to suffer a season sweep at the hands of their other bitter London rivals, Tottenham are at risk of relegation in a battle with another historic local rival, West Ham United, if they cannot get the point they need against the Toffees.

As this awful season wraps up, there has been a lot of reflection on what has led to this point for Tottenham, who have obviously not at all been helped by injuries and other circumstances. But for many Spurs fans, the worst offender of the season has been former manager Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou and totally tanked the team, with the results getting worse and worse the further the players were from Big Ange's coaching.

It's more than a managerial problem at Tottenham

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jamie Redknapp doesn't always say what the Spurs faithful want to hear, but when it comes to talking about the major problems at the club, he isn't afraid to tell it like it is and is often right.

On Sky Sports Premier League programming, the veteran pundit explained that he doesn't think the blame goes to Thomas Frank or even Igor Tudor for that matter. Redknapp wants to keep the blame going to those above the managers.

He said, via Spurs Army, “Too many people blame Thomas Frank. It's not right to blame Igor Tudor. The people who employed them are the ones you should be looking at because it hasn't worked. De Zerbi has come in and done okay. He's had a couple of decent results, but they've gone to Chelsea and got beaten. There have been other games where it hasn't great either.”

While Frank was so, so bad and said things that were so antithetical to the club that he has to get a significant portion of the blame, what Jamie Redknapp is saying overall about the Danish manager and the club is a point well taken.

Because once Spurs could obviously see how bad of a fit Thomas Frank was, Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham should have stepped in. They could have hired Roberto De Zerbi or even Igor Tudor sooner or simply gotten rid of Frank for just about anyone else. They could have even looked for a replacement list earlier, too. Instead, they were complacent, and though De Zerbi is doing a good job early on, as Redknapp notes, he can't just significantly change the way the players are performing on such notice. The rot is already seeped in, and the issue has always been above coaching.
