Italian giant wants to sign Tottenham full-back... and it's not Destiny Udogie

One area where you'd argue Spurs are now well-stocked is at full-back. With Andy Robertson joining the club on a free transfer, Roberto De Zerbi has two reliable options down both flanks.

Robertson arrives to provide cover for Destiny Udogie, who has struggled to build on his early-career promise with the club thanks to an array of injuries. When he's fit and firing, Udogie is one of the Premier League's best left-backs. Few combine his physicality and athleticism so gracefully.

At right-back, Pedro Porro has been run into the ground since he joined the club midway through the 2022/23 season. Porro was initially signed to be an Antonio Conte wing-back, but the pair didn't get much of a chance to work together. The Spaniard has since endured dips in form, and he particularly struggled pre-Roberto De Zerbi last season, but Porro can be regarded as a rare 'good' signing Spurs have made in recent years.

There's a reason why he's garnered the interest of Manchester City and Real Madrid, and why De Zerbi is desperate to keep him this summer.

However, one Spurs full-back whose future is more unsure is Djed Spence. The England international, who didn't get much of a look-in down the stretch, is currently at the World Cup, and is reportedly being eyed by one of Italian football's grand powers.

Italian international Udogie has been tenuously linked with a return to Serie A, having joined the club from Udinese. Juventus and AC Milan are reportedly potential suitors.

However, the latest out of Turin suggests Juve are in for a different Spurs full-back. According to Sportmediaset (via JuveFC on X), the Bianconeri will target Spence if they sell Andrea Cambiaso this summer.

Spence is well-known to the club's sporting director, Marco Ottolini, who engineered the defender's loan move to Genoa in 2024—otherwise known as Spence's time in the wilderness.

Juve, like Thomas Tuchel, appreciate Spence's comfort down both flanks. Despite being right-footed, some would argue that he's better operating as a left-back.

Another source, Ekrem Konur, writes that Juve want to sign the Englishman on loan, but Spurs, if they let go of Spence, would only do so permanently. They reportedly value the full-back at close to £40m.

Given the stability we seemed to have established at the position, I wouldn't be in the business of selling Spence this summer. Juventus aren't going to splash out to sign him, and a loan—unless there's an obligation to buy—doesn't do anything for us.

After adding Robertson (and retaining Ben Davies) we should be set.
