Between the Mathys Tel and Joao Palhinha acquisitions in 2025, Tottenham Hotspur have done more business with Bayern Munich than just the sale of their greatest ever player, Harry Kane, a couple of years ago. Kane has blossomed into an even bigger superstar wtih Bayern, and if there is any sense of justice in the world of football, then the English striker will win his first career Ballon d'Or over the likes of Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and teammate Michael Olise.
The best center forward on the planet in terms of his goal scoring, work rate, creativity, and overall quality, Kane is currently in negotiations with Bayern on a new contract, which has been the case for months. And the Bavarians are starting to make real headway, and there has honestly never been any concern about him potentially leaving the club without a new deal, as much as Tottenham and even Barcelona fans have been dreaming of a blockbuster move for the England international.
That being said, the Spurs faithful's pipe dream of a Kane reunion at N17 isn't such a far fetched notion, because there is one small detail in the new contract that could leave the door very much open for that last feel good run in North London.
Harry Kane might still be thinking about Tottenham
According to a report from Julian Agardi and Christian Falk of Sport BILD in Germany, via iMiaSanMia, Harry Kane's camp can imagine adding a release clause to his new contract, and that is a possibility that should very much entice Tottenham Hotspur fans.
Harry Kane and Bayern Munich are both optimistic that they can work out an extension through the 2028/29 season, and if an agreement is reached between the parties, that would keep Kane in Bavaria until he is 36 years old, at which point he would likely leave Europe - and thus never make it back to N17 after all.
But with a release clause, Kane, if the Tottenham project is enticing for him after the changes Roberto De Zerbi makes, then it is plausible for Spurs to have a chance to bring him back. Now, the actual fee or even the official insertion of the release clause remains to be seen, but the fact that Kane's camp is reportedly kicking around that idea is an interesting wink at Tottenham and a sign that Kane is still keeping his beloved club in his heart and mind.
