Sunday afternoon's early kick off in English football came at Elland Road, where table toppers of the Championship Leeds United would face off against fellow Yorkshiremen Sheffield Wednesday, and Spurs loanee Israeli international Manor Solomon would be in the starting lineup for the Whites. The 25-year-old would be making only his eleventh start of the season for the club in the Championship campaign, having strong competition with Wilfried Gnonto, Daniel James and Largie Ramazani.
It would be the dream start for Leeds and Solomon, after a lofted ball over the top was spilled by the on-rushing Sheffield Wednesday keeper as he was about to claim the ball on the ground in his box, Solomon pounced on the error and smashed it past the two Wednesday defenders who got back to try and clear it off the line. That was Solomon's fourth goal in a Leeds shirt since joining on loan from Spurs, to with as many assists.
Former Spurs defender Joe Rodon is an ever present in the Leeds starting eleven these days, and he had a couple of chances on his own in the first half, both headers coming from corners, which he unfortunately put wide.
Not too much to report on in the second half until Solomon was substituted on 83 minutes, leaving the field to a big round of applause from the Leeds United crowd. With Heung-Min Son looking to be a bit over the hill, Timo Werner not exactly impressing as of late and Mikey Moore being a youngster, it might be something for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur to think about. Whether that is bringing him back from his loan this season. Or just waiting til the end of this campaign and keeping him for next season.
After Solomon went off, Leeds bagged another two late goals to seal the victory on 88 and 96 minutes. A delightful day on West Yorkshire winning this derby between arguably the two biggest clubs within the county, and taking Leeds back to the top of the table. They are yet to lose since the 30th of November, when they fell to defeat at Blackburn Rovers, and only three draws have happened in that time too.
The games come thick and fast in football, and Leeds will be back in action at home again when they host Norwich City on Wednesday night. The Canaries sit at pretty much midtable, in 11th place, so you'd think this is another winnable game for the Israeli and his team mates, edging them closer to promotion.
