Tottenham Hotspur just endured a season where they were battling relegation. Most Spurs players of the past were used to challenging for Europe when they were at the club. Many of whom will be at the World Cup this summer.

Former Tottenham players at the 2026 World Cup

Harry Kane - England

Harry Kane finally got his hands on silverware when he joined Bayern Munich. He now has two Bundesliga trophies and has lifted the DFB-Pokal. However, he has yet to win something with England. Twice, Kane has suffered the heartbreak of being a runner-up in the Euros.

Kane has a great record at World Cups with England, scoring eight goals in 11 matches. However, he will have the regret of missing his penalty in the quarter-finals against France in the 2022 World Cup. He is now 32, so this could be the last time that the England captain will be leading the line for his country at the tournament.

Son Heung-min - South Korea

Son Heung-min had a great record playing alongside Kane for Tottenham. The South Korean now plays his club soccer in North America with Los Angeles FC. Son is now 33, so this could also be his last World Cup.

Luka Modrić - Croatia

Luka Modrić, at the age of 40, is remarkably still playing at the highest level with AC Milan. The Croatian legend has helped his country get to the final and then claim third place at the last two World Cups. However, he, along with many of his teammates who achieved this, are in the latter stages of their careers.

Ivan Perišić - Croatia

Ivan Perišić is now 37, and since leaving Tottenham has gone on to play for Hajduk Split and now PSV Eindhoven. We will see him and Modrić's Croatia face Kane's England in the group stage of the competition.

Giovani Lo Celso - Argentina

Giovani Lo Celso is back with his former club Real Betis after leaving Tottenham. He missed the last World Cup, which Argentina won, due to a muscle injury. However, he now has 66 caps for his country and will be looking to make a mark at this tournament.

Davinson Sánchez - Colombia

Davinson Sánchez has been playing for Galatasaray since leaving Tottenham in 2023. He now has 78 caps for Colombia, who are often seen as dark horses at World Cups.

Nabil Bentaleb - Algeria

Nabil Bentaleb now plays for his hometown club of Lille. He was with Lille as a youth player before coming through the ranks at Tottenham. Bentaleb played for France at the Under-19 level but has now played 58 times for Algeria. This includes making three appearances at the 2014 World Cup.
