Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Louis Saha, has explained why it is not time to panic, and what he has made of Ange Postecoglu's time at the club so far.

When the former footballer was asked if Ange is under pressure, and where he thinks Spurs will finish, he told Betfred: “I really like his style as a manager and his communication skills are right. His identity is clear and the players under him have improved.

He’s brought in young players that have done well for him, such as Brennan Johnson, and there are a lot of things that he’s done well. I still believe Tottenham are going to be in the race for the top four and I believe fifth is the minimum requirement for Spurs.

It’s a difficult Premier League season for everybody, but I do have a lot of faith in Postecoglou. Bad results happen, but I do believe Tottenham will bounce back.”

Whilst there is merit to what Saha has said, it does need to happen fast. Spurs have lost four Premier League games already this season out of just nine games. It took 11 games for Ange Postecoglu's side to lose their first Premier League game of the campaign last time out.

That said, the win against Manchester City, albeit not in the Premier League, was certainly a start. It really was just very Tottenham Hotspur to give Crystal Palace their first win of the season, and three days later give Manchester City their first defeat of the season.

The away form has clearly been the pressing issue, dating back to the back end of 2023, and even further than that if you apply further context to the situation. We have really seen that in the last few days, losing to an inferior side away, and beating a superior side at home. Unfortunately for Ange Postecoglu and Spurs, 50% of football games are away from home.

It is really hard to put your finger on why there is such a contrast between home and away form. Whilst "home advantage" has always been seen as a tangible concept in football, it really does not explain, nor excuse, the results on the road for Spurs.

Furthermore, when it comes to away games - it does not get much harder than next week. Spurs will be playing in the cauldron that is the home of Galatasaray. The game is a 17:45 GMT kick off, meaning it will be 19:45 local time - the atmosphere is going to be incredibly intense, and a positive result there would go a long way to trying to get the sticky away form off their back.
