Tottenham Hotspur have already signed two defensive players to bolster Roberto De Zerbi's squad for another Premier League campaign in veteran free agents Marcos Senesi and Andrew Robertson, and it may only be a matter of time before De Zerbi's former Brighton pupil Jan Paul van Hecke complicates the center back room further.

But as Tottenham expand their horizons to other positions and battle for Manchester City dream winger target Savinho, many Spurs fans are expecting to see more additions to the midfield, beyond just, you know, keeping Joao Palhinha permanently from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Liverpool ace Curtis Jones is a transfer target Tottenham have been seriously interested in since January, though the Reds were not too keen on selling an important role player in the squad when they were already struggling to meet expectations in the Premier League after literally winning the whole league in 2024/25.

Tottenham have fallen dangerously behind

There is a school of though that says Spurs may sign two quality midfielders this summer, pairing EFL Championship gem Hayden Hackney with a proven role player from one of the top teams, which would either be Liverpool's Jones or another Manchester City young gun in Nico Gonzalez.

But Jones will not be easy to sign. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, via Fabrizio Romano, current Liverpool and former Juventus winger Federico Chiesa admitted that Curtis Jones is seriously considering Inter Milan and even asked the Italian international's opinion about a move.

Chiesa said, “Jones asked me what it’s like living in Italy. I told him it’s brilliant and the weather’s much better than in Liverpool. Curtis is technically outstanding, Inter are right to be considering him”

Now that is not a definitive recruitment statement and more tongue in cheek, but Chiesa speaking publicly about Curtis Jones's move only serves to give more validity to the rumors that Inter Milan are not just interested but also close to convincing Jones to move there.

Inter are champions of Serie A and a massive club, even when considering how much pull the Premier League has taken away from Italian football. Spurs are way behind the eight ball with Jones, and if Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham are serious about a guy that Inter and Federico Chiesa are smitten with techcnically in the midfield, then the Lilywhites had better start getting their act together and move with real interest in the player.
