The Savinho saga is finally over, folks, and, guess what, the Brazilian won't be donning a Lilywhite shirt anytime soon.

It's been the story of the summer for Spurs, who have tried desperately to catch a big fish to no avail. Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze slipped through Daniel Levy's net for different reasons, and they've been joined in the chairman's aquarium of missed transfer targets by the Brazilian.

Savinho, all things considered, was keen on a move to north London in a World Cup year. While his debut season at Manchester City was fine, the talented wide man is not guaranteed a starting berth for Pep Guardiola's side this term, especially with Oscar Bobb recovering from a long-term injury.

This saga has been another dreary one, and it's fitting that Romano, who's been relentless in providing updates over a transfer that seemingly hasn't gone anywhere since the initial links emerged.

Savinho transfer saga draws to an unsatisfying close

The Italian journalist, who's functioned as our transfer foe this summer, has confirmed that Manchester City will not be selling Savinho this window.

We learned before our victory over the Cityzens on Saturday that while Pep Guardiola was content with moving the 21-year-old on if he wanted to be somewhere else, City Football Group CEO Ferran Soriano was blocking any potential transfer.

Spurs supposedly had a couple of bids turned down, and weren't going to get anywhere in the end, even if we matched City's asking price.

A potential solution was if the perennial Premier League champions bought an alternative, which allowed Savinho to depart. They've been linked with Real Madrid's Rodrygo, but their decision regarding their own winger means he won't be joining the club in a blockbuster move before the deadline.

Sadly, this is the conclusion we were all expecting given the lack of progress, and it had been established in recent days that the club were turning to other options. While Thomas Frank wants two attacking additions, a No. 10 has to be the priority. We've learned that Xavi Simons is of interest, but Chelsea remain the favourities to sign him.

Out wide, I don't understand why a move hasn't been made for Ademola Lookman, whom Atalanta are willing to sell to an overseas club. The Nigerian looked set to join Inter earlier in the window, but that deal fell through. He's right there for us!

I really cannot wait for this to be over. I just wish these upcoming days weren't so bleeding important.
