There are bound to be an array of personnel changes at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, no matter whether they remain in the Premier League or not.

The frightening reality of relegation has permeated into April, and such a shocking scenario must force an unpopular hierarchy into drastic action this summer. It's not merely the players that need shuffling around, but those primarily responsible for our current mess.

Anyway, it'd appear that Spurs' defense, hopefully with Roberto De Zerbi still in charge, will look particularly different in 2026/27. Cristian Romero will seemingly move on if his release clause is triggered, while Micky van de Ven has garnered interest, too. On the flip side, there have already been links to Van de Ven's compatriot, Jan Paul van Hecke, whom De Zerbi worked with at Brighton & Hove Albion.

While supporters are resigned to losing two mightily talented centre-backs that haven't done themselves justice this calendar year, the majority of us are keen to move on from starting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. A facilitator of chaos, Vicario is an excellent shot-stopper on his day and has an infectious personality. Still, he's had a woeful season, even if his stark drop in form was triggered by a hernia he only recently decided to get sorted.

Despite his struggles, Vicario continues to garner interest from his homeland. Serie A leaders Inter Milan are reportedly the most keen, even if there's a possibility that current starter Yann Sommer signs a one-year contract extension.

Fabrizio Romano's latest update (via Tottenham Tiers on X) on Spurs' No. 1 states that conversations with the Nerazzurri are still being had, with the transfer guru adding that the Italian is "expected to leave" the club this summer.

Vicario underwent surgery on his aforementioned hernia over the international break, after starting between the posts for the chastening 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, and travelled with the Italian national team for yet another unsuccessful playoff campaign. The Azzurri missed out on their third consecutive World Cup after losing on penalties to Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Despite only recently undergoing the procedure, there's a chance that Vicario won't miss a single game for the Lilywhites amid our fight to survive with De Zerbi at the helm. His stand-in, AntonĂn Kinsky, thrust himself firmly out of contention after his horror show at the Metropolitano, but he'd be expected to start in Vicario's absence after the break.

Spurs are back in action against Sunderland this week, 20 days after Vicario supposedly had the surgery. We'll learn later this week how close he is to making a comeback, but it seems likely that Kinsky will earn his second start of 2026 at the Stadium of Light.

The Czech thus has a near-immediate shot at redemption.
