So far, there has only been one striker concretely linked to Tottenham Hotspur this summer transfer window, and that is Eli Junior Kroupi. The 20 year old Frenchman scored 13 goals as a teenager last season for the Cherries, putting him in an exclusive group of players that includes the likes of Wayne Rooney, as most players in the double digits of Premier League goals as teenagers eventually go on to become true superstars.
But if Tottenham and other interested parties know this, then so do Bournemouth. Whlie there are som rumors in the media that Bournemouth are open to selling for a sky high price well above 100 million euros - and maybe even above the 110-120 million euros Real Madrid are set to pay for RB Leipzig's winger Yan Diomande - the reality is a bit more pessimistic.
PSG and Barcelona are the other clubs tracking Kroupi alongside Tottenham, which speaks volumes to the quality of the player and how he is viewed in European football. But PSG's trail has gone cold even with the loss of Diomande to Real Madrid and now Barcelona are pulling out of the race, too.
Bournemouth won't sell at all
In his latest transfer news update, top insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona are "not proceeding" in transfer talks for Eli Junior Kroupi now. And the reason is simple. Bournemouth have made it clear to them and other clubs that they are not interested in selling, so Barca are no longer use their time and resources on pursuing him:
"Barcelona are not proceeding in talks to sign Eli Junior Kroupi at this stage. Understand Barça will not advance on this option at present + Bournemouth informed clubs about clear stance, no intention to sell this summer."
So if Barcelona are no longer going after Kroupi and do not stand a chance at convincing Bournemouth into a sale, then Tottenham likely have no shot either and will have to move on to other striker transfer targets, of which there currently are none.
It is a tough blow for Tottenham, because Kroupi was a dream target. He already scored more goals than Spurs leading scorer last season, Richarlison, and he could have replaced Richy in the squad as a goal scoring option and would have likely started over Dominic Solanke immediately. Now, Spurs have to think of alternatives, barring a sudden unforeseen change of heart from Bournemouth before the transfer window closes in August.
