Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in Savinho for a full year now, and yet there has been no movement on that front this summer transfer window in spite of Spurs literally beginning the window making it known to Manchester City that he is their top target out wide.

Recently, though, there has been the promise of some actual movement for the former La Liga Player of the Season candidate at Girona, as Savinho has apparently made it crystal clear to Man City that he wants to leave to be important at another big club - and it is implied that this club is Tottenham, given how many players he follows and how many big posts he likes related to Spurs.

But Tottenham have other options on the wings that they can sign either if Manchester City still won't lt Savinho go or in conjunction with Savinho, as Roberto De Zerbi has made it clear even publicly that he wants to sign multiple forwards - and most sources in the English press are saying that Tottenham want two new wingers, plus a striker, in the summer 2026 transfer window.

Cody Gakpo is a hotter track than Spurs fans think

The only other left winger linked to Tottenham Hotspur concretely by Fabrizio Romano is Liverpool star Cody Gakpo, and Fab isn't done with that track either. In an appearance on the Men in Blazers podcast, Fab said to watch for Gakpo closely soon. He said, via Spurs Connect, “Keep an eye on Tottenham and Cody Gakpo in the next weeks. They really like the player.”

Gakpo had a rough 2025/26 Premier League season even under a manager who really believed in him, Arne Slot, but that's also because he was miscast in the first season Liverpool lost Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, which was a monumental mistake in hindsight.

At the 2026 World Cup, Gakpo was brilliant and reminded people around the world how much of an asset he can be when he does not have to play as a fully out and wide winger. Gakpo could not invert as much with how Mohamed Salah declined on the right, but in a more fitting role with the Netherlands, Gakpo, as he always does with his country, flourished with decisive actions.

Tottenham Hotspur have been quietly linked pretty strongly to Gakpo by Fab, who now goes out to mention how much Spurs are fans of him as a player. Gakpo as a technical playmaker and scoring option with Savinho as the electrifying, true out and out winger could be quite the summer combo.
