Tottenham Hotspur have not made any inroads for a new forward this summer transfer window. Although they have been in talks for Savinho since the transfer window started, they were also interested in him last summer and have, despite reports from ITKs, made no tangible progress for the Manchester City forward. Because at the end of the day, Man City still seem reluctant to give the final green light for the Brazilian's sale, perhaps because they are waiting for a new addition to replace him.
Spurs are looking at other forwards like Eli Junior Kroupi and Cody Gakpo, but they have not made any real push to sign either at this point despite the rumblings from Fabrizio Romano and other transfer insiders.
There are two other names Tottenham fans have been dreaming of on the left wing, too, big names who can score goals. PSG's Bradley Barcola now officially wants out of the Ligue 1 giants and is at the top of Liverpool's list, and another easier target who has asked for his transfer, Rafael Leao, is also readily available if Spurs want him.
Rafael Leao may not be difficult to sign
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the first big suitor for Leao has finally appeared. Romano says that Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are set to meet with the reps of Leao and AC Milan themselves to present their first official transfer bid for the 2021/22 Serie A MVP. Fab states that Milan only wants to sell the Portuguese international permanently and that Fenerbahce are prepared to offer a permanent bid offer. The decision is reportedly in the hands of Leao and Milan on how they want to respond to this seemingly imminent offer.
Tottenham Hotspur have not shown concrete interest in Rafael Leao, but various rumors from ITKs and sources around Europe have fueled this idea that former Sassuolo manager Roberto De Zerbi wants the club to make an offer to bring him to the Premier League.
Leao has struggled at Milan over the past couple of seasons, yes, but a lot of that is down to the dysfunction at the club. And with Milan ready to move on, Leao should be cheaper than Savinho, Cody Gakpo, and other possible left wingers on the list, even though, at his peak, he has posted better seasons than all of them, including taking home MVP honors in 2022.
With Fenerbahce interested and the others quiet, Tottenham have a real chance to swoop in and make their mark, presenting Leao with a chance to still play at the highest level of European football without having to get into a bidding war with other elite European clubs for a proven talent. Tottenham may not want to admit the fact that Leao has no big suitors and is easy to sign, but Fab is implicitly throwing that in the open with only Fenerbahce concretely interested.
