Fabrizio Romano has put Tottenham fans on notice in race for top winger target

Tottenham Hotspur are woefully thin in the attack, particularly down the wings. They do not have a single healthy right winger with Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski done for the season. Wilson Odobert, who can start both on the left and right, is also out for the campaign with a torn ACL. Spurs sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace in the winter. So the only true winger left in the 2025/26 squad is young Mathys Tel on the left hand side.

As Spurs supporters get excited to see what Tel can do under Roberto De Zerbi, who is a much better tactical manager than either Thomas Frank or Igor Tudor, they must also worry about their lack of options both in the short term and even some of the depth issues in the long term when those guys come back to work with the new Italian coach.

Maghnes Akliouche is the only realistic option linked to Tottenham out wide. With how bad Spurs have been this season, there is no way players like Manchester City stars Savinho and Omar Marmoush will want to join them, and it's not like Tottenham Hotspur had much success attracting those guys before.

Maghnes Akliouche is getting buzz

According to a new report from Fabrizio Romano, "movements have started" to brew around Akliouche ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window. Fab affirms that Premier League clubs are interested in signing the right winger and that "several calls" have already taken place regarding working on a transfer for the young Monaco man.

While there are bigger stars set to be available, Premier League teams already know that Akliouche is going to be available this summer. He is affordable, versatile, with upside, and has an explosive left foot. He is a kind of player Tottenham could use in their ranks, especially if there are doubts about how much Dejan Kulusevski can contribute going forward after such a devastating injury.

Tottenham are never going to be in play for the world class players on the wings with no European football at all on the horizon. And it may take them a couple of years to get back into the Champions League, too.

So as it stands, Maghnes Akliouche is the best player Tottenham are linked to on the transfer market on the wings, especially among realistic signings. Now, Spurs would be better served going after more of a right footed left winger who can score goals, but with how well Mathys Tel - and Wilson Odobert, before his injury - have been playing, Roberto De Zerbi may not need to crowd their room.
