Tottenham Hotspur youngster Lucas Bergvall became the latest jewel of a player to submit a transfer request to Spurs behind the scenes, joining Luka Vuskovic in not wanting to play things out at the club. While Vuskovic's issue lies in being loaned again after being named to the Bundesliga Team of the Season in his loan with Hamburg, Bergvall is more upset about the potential conflict of playing time due to incoming signings.

See, Bergvall is worried that since Roberto De Zerbi already was not playing him, which was understandable since De Zerbi needed the veterans to ensure Premier League survival, he won't play him next season either. And with De Zerbi rightfully fixated on No. 6 upgrades like Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali in an ambitious double swoop - and Adam Wharton may also be in discussions - that means more mouths to feed and fewer opportunities for Bergvall.

Clubs around the Premier League will soon be lining up around the door for the 20 year old Swedish international, even as he is coming off a bad 2025/26 season with Tottenham and a so far underwhelming 2026 World Cup.

Lucas Bergvall's expected price seems low

Chelsea, Aston Villa, and now Nottingham Forest are linked. According to reporting from Fabrizio Romano, the transfer fee that could lead to a deal being completed for Bergvall is a meager 45-50 million pounds, which is not the news Tottenham fans wanted to hear.

For many Tottenham fans, Lucas Bergvall, like Luka Vuskovic, is a gem whose value is at 60 million pounds. Tottenham are holding out for 60 million pounds for Vuskovic and just rejected an offer for 45 million pounds from Brighton for the Croatian international, so if Bergvall were to be sold to, say, another Premier League for that same 45 million pounds, many Spurs fans would riot.

While Tottenham only paid about a quarter of that in order to sign Bergvall a couple of years ago when they were battling La Liga giants Barcelona for his signature, the idea of him being a big profit as a 45 million pound sale is not as appealling as how frightening the idea is of Spurs being forced to sell now and then watching him become a 120 million pound player in a few years at a club like Chelsea or Aston Villa, causing them harm in their own top flight. Bergvall has the potential to be special, and the FOMO of selling at less than his full potential will not sit well with fans.
