No player did more to help Tottenham Hotspur avoid relegation down the stretch of the 2025/26 Premier League season than goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky - not even Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur, Conor Gallagher, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, or anyone else.

Kinsky was the standout player for Tottenham, making insane saves to put points on the board for Spurs in the worst of the relegation fight while avoiding any mistakes. He looked like one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League on the ball, too, progressing play beautifully without ever looking insecure in possession.

Spurs fans had been begging all season long for the club to play Kinsky more over Guglielmo Vicario, who was the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League last season statistically - and even worse than that since the stats could not capture all his basic positional errors and clumsiness on the ball.

Tottenham believe in Kinsky

Kinsky's first chance in the Champions League againt Atletico Madrid ended in disaster for reasons outside his control, but Vicario needing hernia surgery gave Kinsky an opening back - and he took it without any issues.

Vicario is on the shopping list this summer transfer window, and while many assumed that Tottenham Hotspur would be trying to buy a new goalkeeper like James Trafford or even Lucas Chevalier to replace Vic as the new starter, it appears Tottenham are taking a different stance in goal.

According to reporting from Fabrizio Romano, Roberto De Zerbi has been so moved by how well Antonin Kinksy played last season and how he fought back from adversity that he sees the Czech goalkeeper as his No. 1 guy between the sticks at N17.

Therefore, Fab says the plan from De Zerbi and Spurs is to have Kinsky as the starter when the 2026/27 Premier League season starts and then look for a backup on the transfer market after selling Guglielmo Vicario, who is now second choice to Kinsky on the roster. Instead of going for a new starter to play over Kinksy, the latter will be the starter and Spurs will buy his backup on the market this summer, and they are currently looking for options to help facilitate Vic's departure.

VIcario currently has interest from Juventus and other Italian clubs, while Tottenham's only backup goalkeeper link is potentially PSG flop Lucas Chevalier, formerly one of Ligue 1's best keepers at Lille. But otherwise, the word of Kinsky being the No. 1 is new information for Spurs fans, but it is information they will take delight in. Many fans have always believed Kinsky is special, and he is better than the players Spurs could realistically get (and overpay for).
