Although the Ivory Coast were not able to go far in the 2026 World Cup, Yan Diomande was one of the darlings of the tournament, carrying his team offensively with tireless running and intensity on that left flank, creating chances against any team he came across as a follow up from a brilliant breakout season with RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga giants are demanding a king's ransom for Diomade, and while Tottenham Hotspur are not one of the main teams after his signature, they were among the first of the wave of Premier League giants, including Liverpool, to keep a watchful eye on him during the 2025/26 season.
Liverpool and PSG have been after him the most this summer, with reports in the French media stating that PSG are his No. 1 choice, leading PSG left winger Bradley Barcola to then draw Liverpool and Tottenham links.
Tottenham can show they are a serious club
But now, Fabrizio Romano is adding a bit of a twist to the tale. The Italian transfer insider says that while PSG and Yan Diomande had actually agreed to personal terms in June, more and more clubs are calling RB Leipzig to try and enter the deal. Although Fab says that the ball is in PSG's court, they still have not reached an agreement with Leipzig.
Tottenham Hotspur's bitter rivals Arsenal are among the new clubs most interested in Diomande after losing out on Morgan Rogers to rivals Chelsea at the last second. Fab did not specifically name Tottenham as an interested party, but you would have to imagine that a team with such a gaping hole on the left wing after Son Heung min's departure last season that was never addressed should be going after a player the caliber of Diomande.
Now, Diomande will cost upwards of 100 million pounds, but if Tottenham were willing to spend exactly 100 million pounds on defensive midfielder Sandro Tonali, then a younger winger coming off a much better 2025/26 season should indeed cost significantly more than Tonali.
Tottenham have invested heavily in their midfield and even spent a fair bit on Jan Paul van Hecke for Roberto De Zerbi this summer. But as collapsed deals for Desire Doue and even Bryan Mbeumo have shown these last few seasons, Spurs have never fully invested in an elite forward of the present and the future. Jumping in for Diomande would be a real sign that Spurs are a serious club with De Zerbi.
