Aston Villa forward and attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers has been a dream target of Tottenham Hotspur's ever since he broke out and became one of the best Premier League forwards, scoring great goals, working hard for his team, and creating loads of chances.
A starter for the England national team at the World Cup this summer, Rogers kept the fight up under Thomas Tuchel, and he is about to earn a big money transfer to one of the biggest clubs in English football. But instead of Tottenham being the ones to push for him as a much needed upgrade on the left wings, Spurs are about to watch him head off to a rival.
Arsenal have been going after Rogers harder than any other club this summer, and it is not even close. And their hard work is about to pay off, so the Spurs fans happy to see the clutch Leandro Trossard head out of North London to the Turkish Super Lig will not be enthused with the massive upgrade the Gunners are potentially close to picking up instead.
Arsenal are after Morgan Rogers
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are not going after Bradley Barcola and are focusing their full efforts on Morgan Rogers. In fact, Fab says that Arsenal are now going to "accelerate" their interest in the England international and view him as their "top target". Even though Arsenal have already landed the Club Brugge stat machine Christos Tzolis, they still want to sign Rogers on top of him.
While that could leave the door open for a bigger talent in Bradley Barcola of PSG to go to Tottenham Hotspur, there is really no guarantee that Barcola even leaves PSG this summer. Meanwhile, Rogers is a proven Premier League starter who could really help Tottenham on the wings, working hard and providing the sort of end product that they are desperately missing, particularly the goal boost.
Right now, Tottenham are being linked with Savinho, Marcus Rashford, Rafael Leao, Ferran Torres, Barcola, and Cody Gakpo on the wings with potentially other targets, too. They desperately need a left winger and maybe even two, depending on how Roberto De Zerbi views the readiness of youngsters Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, and loanee Mikey Moore.
Rogers to Arsenal is a tough blow for Tottenham if it happens, and with Arsenal pushing harder for him, per Fab, it really sounds like he could be headed to the North London rivals. Tottenham will have to answer - or try to steal Rogers for themselves despite showing no interest this summer.
