As Nottingham Forest continue to push hard to steal away young center midfielder Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham Hotspur after the Swedish international submitted a transfer request during the World Cup, Spurs may be eyeing another move for Forest's own midfield star Morgan Gibbs-White.

Spurs should have had Gibbs-White signed last summer after activiating his little known release clause, but Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis threw enough of a tantrum that the Premier League helped him block the transfer, with Daniel Levy and Tottenham predictably doing frustratingly very little to fight for the move. MGW then signed a new contract with Forest, and that was that.

But the Gibbs-White rumors have quietly resurfaced this summer transfer window despite Spurs already having two top No. 10's in Xavi Simons and James Maddison, though now the Dutchman is coming off an ACL tear of his own, too.

Morgan Gibbs-White may actually be achievable

In an interesting twist, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Morgan Gibbs-White has inked a contract with a new agency to represent him after his career year in which he scored 15 goals for Nottingham Forest. Romano says that Gibbs-White will now be represented by the ROOF agency, and Fab added interesting verbiage, writing that ROOF will help MGW "take next steps for future from now on".

That hints at a possible plan from Gibbs-White to leave Nottingham Forest, and with Forest pushing to increase their offer for Lucas Bergvall and the young midfielder still demanding a transfer, like Luka Vuskovic did, despite Roberto De Zerbi and Johan Lange convincing him to stay, maybe Gibbs-White can be the target Spurs go for with Bergvall dangled as Forest's Elliot Anderson replacement of choice.

Bergvall is valued at 50 million pounds and Forest will likely value Gibbs-White nearly twice as high. So if Spurs can package together 30-50 million pounds with Bergvall for Gibbs-White and stick the latter as a 10 or winger to add goals this attack, then maybe the deal is worth it if Bergvall is going to leave no matter what anyway. Because it is better to lose Bergvall but take MGW from Forest than only lose Bergvall.

ROOF now working with Gibbs-White can help back the player up and give him more ammunition to go up against Evangelos Marinakis and facilitate a move if Tottenham Hotspur is still what he dreams of - and they have to be more attractive of a destinatino now with Roberto De Zerbi, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes on board.
