Harry Kane, just as he was for Tottenham Hotspur so many times over the years, was the hero for the England national team in the World Cup Round of 32, scoring twice to pull England ahead of DR Congo, including an insane finish to bury them late.
Tottenham fans have to be happy to see Kane finally getting the recognition for being one of the all time great strikers and English players after being downplayed while he was with Spurs for so long, though his title winning success at Bayern Munich has to feel bittersweet.
Many Spurs fans are still dreaming of a reunion with Kane, but as the last year has developed with Kane competing for the Ballon d'Or and becoming the favorite while at Bayern and playing with wingers like Luis Diaz and Michael Olise, the reality has settled in that Kane is even happier in Bavaria and has no chance of leaving.
Harry Kane is ready to talk to Bayern Munich
Fabrizio Romano essentially confirmed what Spurs supporters were already thinking, as he stated in a video update that Bayern Munich are pushing for a new contract this summer transfer window and have already scheduled a meeting with Harry Kane to hash the deal out. Romano says that Bayern are ready to give Kane what he wants.
With Real Madrid fighting hard to steal away Bayern's other Ballon d'Or superstar Michael Olise, Bayern will be even more loathe to lose Kane, because they cannot afford to run the risk of going down their two best players in the midst of a Champions League drought.
Tottenham Hotspur still need a top striker and have never come close to replacing Kane, and they were so bad at the No. 9 last season that their best goal scorer was Richarlison - a player who barely scored 10 goals and is someone the club has been trying to move on from for a couple of years now with Saudi Pro League and Turkish Super Lig clubs interested.
Kane, though, is a pipe dream, and Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham are probably going to have to go younger anyway as they look to replace Randal Kolo Muani and likely Richarlison with more goal scoring prowess alongside the well rounded 65 million pound striker Dominic Solanke.
Current Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi is at the top of the list right now, but more names should start to come into the picture as De Zerbi and Johan Lange scour for options.
