Even though Randal Kolo Muani was only a loan signing and thus represented no real investment or long term risk on the part of Tottenham Hotspur, he will still go down in history as one of the worst acqusitions in the recent memory of the club because of his total lack of effort and sheer ineptitude.
As Spurs fans loved to point out, Kolo Muani made Timo Werner look like Harry Kane with how terrible his record of goals and assists was, and if Spurs signed literally anyone else other than Kolo Muani, perhaps they would have achieved relegation safety sooner than Matchday 38. The French striker was so bad that even with no depth at all, Tottenham seriously considered terminating his loan from PSG that winter window.
So it has been very surprising for Tottenham fans to see how badly Juventus want him back. Kolo Muani played for Juve in the 2024/25 season on loan, and he was actually pretty decent under Igor Tudor in Turin.
Tottenham are going to have to break the bank
Now, Fabrizio Romano is reporting an official Here We Go for Randal Kolo Muani, as Juventus have agreed to a transfer fee with PSG after lengthy negotiations, signing the French No. 9 for a whopping 45 million euros. It is a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
While the knee jerk from Tottenham Hotspur fans will be to laugh at Juventus for spending so much money on a clearly below average striker, Kolo Muani going for this much money is actually the sort of dreadful news that should upset Tottenham fans.
Because if an older, well below average striker like Kolo Muani who can't hit a barn door and has such poor professionalism that he can't even bother to try for a team fending relegation is worth nearly 50 million euros, then the actual top strikers that Tottenham want to sign to start for them in the 2026/27 season and for the next 5-10 years are going to be worth double to triple that amount of money.
Players like Bournemouth's U21 French star Eli Junior Kroupi are definitely worth triple that, and now Tottenham fans can see why the Cherries think they can get that kind of money for him. Because someone like Kolo Muani who will be a net negative to a team and send them to relegation is definitely not worth anywhere near a player like Junior Kroupi who can become one of the world's best within five years.
