After finishing 17th in the Premier League again last season and only escaping relegation on the league's final Matchday vs. Everton by the skin of their teeth, largely thanks to the boost Roberto De Zerbi provided as the new manager, Tottenham Hotspur have been hard at work addressing their ills on the defensive end.

Though there are actually bigger needs in the midfield and attack, Spurs are busy squaring away the squad piece by piece. They have signed experienced Premier League players Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi, and another one with years of starting experience, Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, is potentially on his way soon.

That means players will have to go out the other way. Cristian Romero's sale is almost taken for granted, and while Spurs fans will not be too sad to see the captain go, he was one of their best players over the years. The center back every Tottenham fan actually wants gone is Radu Dragusin, who has been buried on the depth chart and was very poor in 2025/26 when he did play.

Tottenham set Radu Dragusin asking price

Dragusin was great for Genoa in Serie A, but the former Juventus prospect was not a great fit for the Premier League. Big Serie A clubs have been interested and Dragusin clearly wants out, but depth concerns forced him to stay in the winter.

Now, Fabio Paratici, the former Tottenham Hotspur executive currently trying to pull Fiorentina back together after their own awful start to the 2025/26 season, is the latest to throw his hat into the ring for Dragusin.

La Nazione is reporting, via Firenze Viola, that one of the first moves Paratici wants to make this summer for Fiorentina is reuniting with Radu Dragusin, whom he worked with at both Juventus and Tottenham as an executive. Paratici seems to value the Romanian international highly, but in order to sign him, the Viola will have to pay 20 million euros, which is the minimum Spurs want. And that may be tough.

Although Dragusin barely plays for Tottenham and is not in their plans, it makes sense for Tottenham to request a decent sum. They paid 31 million euros for him and should want some of that back, and Dragusin is still relatively young.

The biggest benefit to Fabio Pratici wanting Dragusin back for Tottenham is clearing up space in the squad. Not only does that help Jan Paul van Hecke have more breathing room, but those who really want to see Luka Vuskovic in the first team instead of out on loan will be happy because Dragusin leaving keeps that hope alive.

Now, Vuskovic will still probably be loaned no matter what happens to Dragusin if Van Hecke joins, but at least if Dragusin goes to Serie A, that pathway for Vuskovic is not completely slammed shut.
