After ending a 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur should have built on this. With the signings that they made, no one would have expected them to be in a relegation battle this season and ultimately stay in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth.

Every Tottenham signing of the 2025 summer ranked from worst to best one year later

8. Kota Takai

Some fans may be forgiven for not knowing who Kota Takai is. He joined from the Japanese side, Kawasaki Frontale, last summer. However, due to injuries, he made Spurs' bench just once. He was then sent on loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he continued to miss games and made just eight appearances.

7. Randal Kolo Muani

Randal Kolo Muani was a big-name signing for Tottenham Hotspur. He joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, having also played for Juventus and for France in the 2022 World Cup final. However, he scored just one Premier League goal in 30 games. Kolo Muani was more effective in the Champions League, where he found the back of the net four times in nine games. This included a brace against his parent club, PSG.

6. Mathys Tel

Mathys Tel's loan from Bayern Munich last season was made permanent over the summer. However, he has also flopped. Tel scored just four goals with two assists in 38 games in all competitions this season.

5. Mohammed Kudus

When Mohammed Kudus joined Tottenham from West Ham, he would not have thought he would be battling his former club for a place in the Premier League. His Spurs career started well, setting up two goals in a 3-0 win over Burnley on the opening day of the season. However, he went on to play just 26 games before a hamstring injury cut short his campaign. In total, he scored three and made three assists for Spurs.

4. Xavi Simons

Xavi Simons has been inconsistent this season. There have been moments of magic, such as a brace against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. However, in total, Simons scored five goals with six assists in all competitions this campaign. Just when it looked like Simons was hitting form, he suffered a cruciate ligament tear, which ended his season.

3. Luka Vuskovic

Luka Vuskovic joined Tottenham last summer, but was sent straight on loan to Hamburger SV. The center-back had an impressive season in the Bundesliga, scoring six goals in 28 matches. He helped the German side finish a comfortable 13th place in their division. At just 19 years old, he is one of the most promising young defenders in soccer. He is already being linked with the likes of Barcelona, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund.

2. Kevin Danso

Kevin Danso's loan from Lens was made permanent over the summer. Danso had a mixed season as he was often left on the bench or injured. However, he went on to make 36 appearances in total. Danso also played a key role at center-back in the absence of Cristian Romero.

1. João Palhinha

João Palhinha was a very good player for Fulham, but his switch to Bayern Munich did not work out. Therefore, he was sent on loan to Tottenham this season. He scored the winning goal against Everton on the final day of the season, which ensured Spurs' place in the Premier League. In total, from defensive midfield, Palhinha found the back of the net seven times with three assists in 45 games this campaign. He is versatile and has been able to play center-back, too, when needed. Taking up their option to buy Palhinha is a must.
