Tottenham Hotspur fans have been saying for years that Harry Kane is not just one of the best players on this planet but also one of the greatest strikers and one of the greatest overall English players of all time.
It is ironic, then, that it took Kane leaving Spurs for everyone else to figure that out. Kane is now a bona fide Ballon d'Or contender at Bayern Munich, a record breaker in the Bundesliga who has already made Robert Lewandowski's legacy a mere fleeting memory, and now a man who could finally help finish the job and bring the World Cup home to England.
The Three Lions, after surviving a brutal night at the Azteca against Mexico, will battle underdogs Norway in the World Cup quarterfinals, pitting two of the greatest Premier League strikers and two of the best players on the planet against each other in Kane vs. Erling Haaland.
Harry Kane still won't get his due
Before the match, the ITV Sport cameras caught up with current Tottenham Hotspur fullback Djed Spence, who has become one of the key players on the England national team under Thomas Tuchel against the odds.
Spence was asked if he has ever seen anyone finish quite like his upcoming opponent Haaland, to which Spence succinctly replied, "Yeah, Harry Kane." A small clip of the interaction can be viewed, courtesy of The Spurs Watch.
It is absolutely wild and very disrespectful that the media had the audacity to ask Djed Spence, of all people, if he had ever seen a finisher on the level of Erling Haaland when Harry Kane is his long time teammate.
Perhaps Kane is underrated because he is so good at everything else, including even defending and dribbling, that people forget just how insane of a finisher is. But put a catalogue of his finishes next to Haaland's, and Kane is even better. With Bayern Munich, Kane is scoring even more goals than Haaland has in his best season at Manchester City, and he was already hitting 30 for some subpar Tottenham teams.
It is astounding how little respect Kane still gets from some corners in the media, and it is telling that through no fault of his own, 2026's most prolific goal scorer went from being the clear favorite for the Ballon d'Or to having to share the spotlight with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi. Tottenham fans will applaud Spence for cheekily setting the record straight here.
