Tottenham are reportedly keen on making a move for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson this summer, potentially placing Destiny Udogie's status as first-choice under threat.

Robinson was arguably the Premier League's most impressive performer at his position last season, with the USMNT star notching ten assists in 36 league outings. He's a full-back who loves to fly forward, but he's also shown a sticky ability when tasked to defend superstar attackers one-on-one.

Few regarded full-back as a priority position of need entering the summer transfer window, but it seems as if new manager Thomas Frank wants to add one more to his ranks to complete the depth chart.

Udogie burst onto the scene during Ange Postecoglou's first ten games in charge, and enjoyed a mightily successful debut season which saw him quickly thrust into "best left-back in the Premier League" conversations.

However, the Italian international underwent surgery last summer and struggled to rediscover his most potent form upon his return. It wasn't until last season's run-in when Udogie performed to the standard we'd swiftly come to expect of him. He was superb during our run to Europa League glory.

His form to conclude the campaign render the Robinson links rather curious, but a different manager means a shift in ideas, and the flying Fulham full-back appears an excellent fit for Frank on paper.

According to Tottenham insider Paul O'Keefe (via The Spurs Web), the Cottagers are aware of our interest in the 27-year-old, but no move is advanced as of yet. Fulham are believed to be asking for around Β£40m.

In truth, I don't think this is a deal we should prioritising, but that's not to suggest I don't like the player. Robinson is almost always available and is a very useful outlet down the left-hand side. He's an aggressive and proactive defender which can often be is undoing, but the athleticism is off the charts.

With Frank typically wanting his full-backs to hug the touchline and stretch the pitch, Robinson would be an excellent fit. While Udogie is capable, his success has so far been predicated on his ability to underlap and drift infield. Still, I think the Italian can certainly develop soundly as an overlapping outlet.

The pair differ in profile, and the competition between the two would be healthy. But given Djed Spence's success on the left, the likely fee, and issues over filling the homegrown quota, this is a move I'd probably steer clear of for now.
