Lucas Bergvall submitted a transfer request to Tottenham Hotspur at the beginning of the World Cup even before Spurs signed Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for a combined 185 million pounds. The Lilywhites have already sold Luka Vuskovic to Brighton for a little over 50 million pounds after the young center back dug his foot in and asked for a departure after Roberto De Zerbi spent more than 50 million pounds to sign Jan Paul van Hecke as a new starter from Brighton.
It seems almost guaranteed that Bergvall will leave just like Vuskovic, as he has really been digging his heels in, too, on his stance for a move. Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have been submitted transfer offers to Spurs for Bergvall, and though Aston Villa and Chelsea have seemingly dropped out of the race, they were very interested in the Swedish international throughout the 2025/26 season.
Tottenham have already been fielding offers for Bergvall this summer, with Forest and Newcastle making deals approaching 50 million pounds. So far, Spurs have not bitten, much to the delight of the fans, who would prefer a universe where Bergvall does not leave the club this summer after all.
Lucas Bergvall is valued higher than Luka Vuskovic
In a recent appearance on The Athletic FC Podcast, the No. 1 Premier League transfer insider David Ornstein divulged that the consensus behind the scenes is that Tottenham Hotspur are asking for 60 million pounds for Lucas Bergvall this summer transfer window.
That means Tottenham want a little bit more for Bergvall than what Luka Vuskovic went for to Brighton, which makes sense. Even though Vuskovic is coming off a better season in the Bundesliga, Bergvall has shown he can cut it as at least a role player in the Premier League, midfielders tend to go for more than center backs, he has been a part of a Europa League title winning team, and he is a better athlete than Vuskovic.
A 60 million pound transfer is the bare minimum most Spurs fans would accept for Bergvall if he had to go this summer, and that valuation means that if he were to want that Nottingham Forest move as an Elliot Anderson replacement to get the same 100 milion plus pound transfer to an elite club that Anderson got this year to Manchester City, that could help bridge the gap to a dream swap for Morgan Gibbs-White.
Tottenham are making it clear to the rest of the Premier League with a 60 million pound valuation for Bergvall that they view him as a premium prospect, they would prefer to keep than sell, and they are not going to take any discounts for the 20 year old midfielder.
