Lucas Bergvall already made it clear weeks ago that he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur, and while Roberto De Zerbi and the club's leadership have been trying to convince Bergvall that he can still be important to them and get enough minutes next season, it does not seem like the Swedish international is very interested or that Spurs are having a whole lot of luck with selling him on how he fits the project.
Nottingham Forest have been the most interested in Bergvall, spamming Tottenham with multiple transfer offers. And before that, during the 2025/26 Premier League season, Spurs were getting interest from Aston Villa and Chelsea, who could already see how disgruntled Bergvall was with his lack of minutes and overall role under Thomas Frank.
But Forest are not the only club in active pursuit of Bergvall this summer transfer window. Because while Chelsea have backed out of the race and Villa are seemingly looking elsewhere in midfield, Newcastle United are the latest Premier League club of significance to show interest in the 20 year old box to box midfielder.
Lucas Bergvall is a premier prospect
According to new information from David Ornstein of The Athletic, Newcastle actually recently made a formal transfer offer to Tottenham Hotspur for Lucas Bergvall. The Magpies reportedly offered 46 million pounds to Spurs for the player, but the Lilywhites rejected. Ornstein says that Spurs have received offers of varying quality from clubs in England for Bergvall but have so far rejected all of them. They are open to selling the player but only at the right price.
Most of the media have floated around 50 million pounds as the figure to reach for Bergvall, as Tottenham sold Luka Vuskovic for only slightly more than that to Brighton - and Bergvall can say that he is a former Europa League winner in 2025 with Spurs.
Bergvall is almost certainly leaving Tottenham with all the interest stacking up and how uninterested he seems in sticking around under Roberto De Zerbi, so the question for Tottenham really becomes how much they are willing to sell him for.
Given David Ornstein says some of the offers have been higher than the 46 million pounds Newcastle bid for Bergvall, it is possible Tottenham are aiming for more than the 50 million pounds that has been floated around. Either way, Spurs supporters do not want to see the club get taken to the cleaners here, because Bergvall is a valuable asset. And Ornstein's reveal of the 46 million pound rejection confirms what Spurs fans are feeling here: Tottenham are going to get maximum dollar out of Bergvall.
