No player endeared themselves more to the Tottenham Hotspur faithful during the Premier League relegation battle than Antonin Kinsky. Archie Gray, Joao Palhinha, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Rodrigo Bentancur, and even Conor Gallagher emerged as heroes of varying degrees to help Roberto De Zerbi save Spurs from a seemingly sealed fate of relegation to the EFL Championship, but Kinsky stood head and shoulders above the rest.

The way he rose back from being crucified by Igor Tudor on the slippery pitch against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League knockouts will forever live in the history of the club. Kinsky showed a maturity and leadership beyond his years, as well as a quality on the ball and between the sticks that was severely lacking under Guglielmo Vicario. The Czech shot stopper took the job from Vicario and never looked back.

And now, he is being richly rewarded. Tottenham are ready to sell Vicario this summer, which was always the expected outcome for the deeply disappointing Italian international, but instead of signing someone ambitious like James Trafford to replace him, Spurs merely signed Czech veteran Premier League backup Martin Dubravka to be a guiding voice behind Kinsky.

Antonin Kinsky is officially the No. 1

David Ornstein of The Athletic is reporting that after recent talks, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a full agreement with Antonin Kinsky on a new contract. The Czech goalkeeper will sign a new five year plus one deal with a wage increase, and, better yet, Ornstein confirms that Kinsky's deal recognizes him as having the No. 1 status in the locker room at the goalkeeper position.

it is the final loose end to tie up in the story of Kinsky's rise, and Tottenham fans will respect Roberto De Zerbi even more for recognizing how brilliant Kinsky was as a keeper and emerging leader. The Kinsky contract sends a message that if you do your job and play to the highest level for the club, no matter what you did before, you will be backed, richly rewarded financially, and given the role you deserve in the squad.

After seeing Kinsky play the way he did during the Premier League relegation battle and hearing of the rumors of a new deal for him, Tottenham fans are not surprised in the least to read David Ornstein report this new deal. But it doesn't make the news any less sweeter for the Spurs faithful, who were hoping for this move to happen.
