Tottenham Hotspur have brought in Premier League players Marcos Senesi and Andrew Robertson on free transfers to add depth to their defense, but they are not stopping there. In addition to bids for Brighton center back Jan Paul van Hecke, Spurs are back in the saddle like Steven Tyler in pursuit of one of the best young wingers in the English top flight, Savinho from Manchester City.
Spurs interest in Savinho is nothing new. They were after the Brazilian last summer transfer window, but in comparison to the effort it would have taken to extract the former La Liga Player of the Season candidate from the Etihad, Daniel Levy and the club did not actually try all that hard to sway their more successful Big Six counterparts.
But with Savinho only starting seven games last season and now Pep Guardiola out of the project to reset his life, the opening is there for Tottenham Hotspur to sign Savinho for even cheaper this summer transfer window.
Savinho is getting closer
To that end, Tottenham insider @szyexcl delivered the best news yet on the Savinho front, stating that not only are Spurs on the same page as Savinho on personal terms, but Tottenham and Manchester City have now "basically agreed" a final transfer fee for the potentially world class left (and right) winger. Per @szyexcl, the only real hurdle left is figuring out the add ons.
That should be a formality at this point if the transfer fee is indeed agreed. Depending on which outlet is the most accurate, Savinho's transfer fee from Manchester City to Tottenham is expected to be around 50 million pounds, which is significantly less than the minimum of 70 million pounds Man City were requesting last summer transfer window.
Still less than 23 years of age and a starting caliber winger on title contenders in two different leagues (yes, Girona, now down for the count, were that good when Savinho was with them in 2023/24), Savinho represents a great value at 50 million pounds for Tottenham.
If Spurs can close this deal, they will have signed three great skill position attackers between the last two summer transfer windows when including Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons. Tottenham would then be a real goal scoring striker away from building a top notch attacking quartet with the likes of James Maddison, Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, and presumably Dejan Kulusevski as impressive rotational optoins in the mix.
