Tottenham Hotspur don't necessarily want to be the ones to win the summer transfer window, but after finishing 17th in the Premier League in second straight seasons, Spurs desperately need a huge shake up at their core this offseason.
They already on their way, too, as Roberto De Zerbi has changed the outlook at the club and their mentality, and he got Spurs to spend big on three legitimate Premier League star players in center back Jan Paul van Hecke and defensive midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Now, Tottenham need to sign attacking players, but they have been slow to move on the market with negotaitions for their top picks on the wings, Savinho of Manchester City and Cody Gakpo from Liverpool, not progressing as anticipated.
Tottenham need to load up on forwards even more now
But Spurs are still in the mix for both, and they now also have hopes to sign a new striker, whether that is Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea or a much more attractive option for De Zerbi in another Man City forward who has long been on Spurs radar, Omar Marmoush.
Arsenal have just made the latest bomba, though, as the North London rivals have scooped up one of the best defenders in English football, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that classy right back and center back Ezri Konsa is making his way to the Gunners to fill a key position of need for 50 million pounds.
Konsa makes the Arsenal defense somehow even more elite after their 2025/26 Premier League title conquest, and the Gunners landing one of the Premier League's best right backs puts Tottenham Hotspur under even more pressure to complete an attacking bomba.
Mathys Tel has the makings of a great left winger in the future and continued to impress this offseason for De Zerbi, but he isn't ready yet to go up against a top level right back like Ezri Konsa yet. Spurs need someone with more credibility like Savinho, Cody Gakpo, or Omar Marmoush in the attack.
Arsenal are not resting on their laurels to add defensive talent for manager Mikel Arteta even after winning the Premier League behind the deepest defense in European football, and that should galvanize Roberto De Zerbi to push Tottenham even more to sign multiple top level attackers so that Spurs have a prayer of competing in the North London Derby this year after two embarrassing defeats to the Gunners in the 2025/26 campaign.
