No starting goalkeeper in the Premier League currently has a lower save percentage than Tottenham Hotspur shot stopper Guglielmo Vicario, who has spent very little of the last few weeks actually stopping shots in league play. His performance in the 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid was significantly better, but it is obviously not going to be enough to spare his future with Spurs.

Tottenham want to sign a younger and better goalkeeper than Vicario, who has remained a hot commodity in Italian football. Before joining Spurs, he was a tremendous keeper for Empoli, shining at a smaller club with less pressure and fewer expectations, whereas he has devolved into one of Europe's most error prone keepers at the N17.

According to a new report from Italian transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, discussions for Guglilelmo Vicario are likely to take place this summer between Tottenham Hotspur and Serie A giants Inter Milan, who are the clear favorites to win the Scudetto again this season after a heartbreaking title loss to Napoli in the 2024/25 season.

Inter Milan are pushing harder for Guglielmo Vicario

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has actually been in London recently, anticipating a summer swoop for the Italian international. Ausiilo and the Nerazzurri are expected to make formal contact for the Tottenham goalkeeper soon.

Vicario is not a bad goalkeeper. He has looked bad - terrible, even, at times - for Tottenham this season, but he looks a fish out of water these days. Vic has lost all confidence, shattered by his own mistakes, even as he wears it with a facade of confidence by throwing the blame onto teammate and yelling every time he makes an error.

It is proof that Tottenham and the pressure are too big for a man used to being the unquestioned star of the ship in Empoli. At Spurs, Vicario is tasked with greatness being an expectation, and he has failed to deliver, playing a big role in Spurs being in relegation.

Now, Inter Milan have pressure, too, but there will be more love and comfort in his home country of Italy. Roma and Juventus are two more big clubs in Calcio to watch out for, but Inter have shown by far the most concrete interest, especially in the early going, and it would honestly be an upset at this point if he were not announced as the successor to Yann Sommer. The question is, how much can Tottenham get out of a Vicario sale to Inter?
